Plant Engineer

Impact Plastics is searching for an energetic Plant Engineer to oversee company activities across several critical areas to meet safety, quality, and business objectives at our Hamlet, NC facility.

Successful candidates will monitor processes throughout the facility, looking for ways to improve safety, quality, and productivity.  The position will be in direct contact with other managers within the company, working with them to launch new products to improve current production workflows while maximizing quality and minimizing friction points.  The position is on-site and full-time, reporting to the North Carolina Operations Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Lead quality audits and management, safety programs, and manage the food safety team to comply with global quality and food safety standards such as ISO 9001:2015, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, and NC-IMS by FDA
  • Assist Corporate Quality and the SR Quality R&D Engineering in producing and updating documentation to ensure compliance with ISO 9001,  FSSC 22000 and other regulatory documentation
  • Conduct Internal Audits and serve as a contact person for external auditing teams
  • Maintain Internal Audit schedule/process and work closely with the Quality Manager to ensure resources are available for internal audits as scheduled
  • Assist in preparing data for quarterly internal audits and annual management review meetings
  • Project management and long-term planning to create initiatives that further the company’s overall goals
  • Coordinate different teams to foster the exchange of ideas and provide cross-team learning opportunities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in quality or project management, mechanical or electrical engineering, or similar fields is preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in operations
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for plant operations
  • Able to lead root cause analysis investigations
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software experience is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
